Portland: Local tailor makes clothes with cycling in mind

Here in Portland, we’re used to our top-notch selection of local framebuilding talent, but how about some locally-made, custom clothes to wear on your locally-made, custom bike? And no, we’re not talking about tight hipster-jeans, or roadie lycra and spandex.

Enter Emily Horton, who is putting the finishing touches on the patterns and designs for her bike-specific, custom clothing. Horton is proprietor of M-Horton Clothing Designs, a one-woman custom-clothing and sewing house.

Savile Row Cut Down A Notch By ‘Bespoke’ Ruling

If you are confused by the difference between a “bespoke” and “made-to-measure” suit, you aren’t alone.

Advertising Standards Authority thinks that the words have become so interchangeable in the public’s mind that the tailors of Savile Row in London no longer have a right to the exclusive grip over the word that they’ve had for centuries.

On Wednesday, it rejected a complaint against Sartoriani, a tailor on Bond Street, for using the word “bespoke” in an advertising campaign.
